Yeon (Elly) Park, L.Ac.
Growing up in Korea, I saw firsthand how Chinese Medicine produced so many miraculous cures and I was quite familiar with it as part of my upbringing. It was always real to me but I never seriously considered it as a life path…that is until I found my true calling and began the hard work needed to become a true healer.
For whole my life, I was studying and playing music. I went to college and graduate school for music, but I kept wandering “Is music really my true calling? Do I really want to study music for doctorate degree? What is the purpose of music for me?” Back then, I was dealing with the huge amounts of stress that come from being in the music field, and it was starting to affect my health. Also, I had a big issue with chronic allergies to environmental pollution, and that really bothered my studying…and life. I tried many different forms of alternative medicine for my chronic allergies. Nothing worked until I found Chinese Medicine, which finally gave me my life back. I immediately decided to change whole my path from being a musician to becoming a healer who can relieve the suffering of others. It was a turning point in my life that forever changed me.
After graduate school, I spent four years (full-time) studying acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City, One of the Nation’s leading schools for acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and integrative medicine. It was while at Pacific College that I met Ken Andes and began working at his clinic in early 2008. While taking classes at Pacific College I was mentored by Ken on an almost daily basis, assisted him in delivering patient care, and was privileged to learn his unique methods of practicing natural medicine.
After I graduated from Pacific College in 2010, Ken offered me an opportunity to be the clinical director at his second office in Manhattan. This was a new clinic that he wanted to open for a small number of his patients (about 50 or so) who were commuting from NYC to Ramsey for treatments. We opened this office in 2010 and I served as both the clinical director and sole practitioner.
In the four years that I operated Natural Chinese Medicine-NYC, I was able to grow the clinic from only 50 patients to several thousand. This was all done through word-of-mouth with no advertising. During these years I gained invaluable experience in treating immune, endocrine, and neurological disorders as well as women’s health issues.
Beginning in 2014, I am now offering treatments at the Ramsey, NJ office to help serve our rapidly expanding patient base and to continue to care for the chronically ill.
I am a life-long learner and a “forever student”. In addition to my training at Pacific College, I have received extensive training in Clinical Nutrition, Neuro-Muscular Rehabilitation, Functional Endocrinology, Modern Homeopathy, Onnuri Medicine, and Applied Kinesiology. I have realized that learning can never stop in this field and have continued to refine my skills with several world renown healers.
I sincerely feel lucky that I am working in this field, and seeing great improvements in my patients. I appreciate that I can help many people to become mentally and physically healthy and to change their lifestyles as well. I used to work on my own happiness while I pursued music. Of course, through my music I was able to bring joy and happiness to people, or heal them from emotional problems (a story for some other time ). But yet, that was not enough for me. Now, I am here helping people, and guiding them towards better and healthier lives. I see myself as delivering improvement and renewed joy of life for my patients. I have truly fallen in love with what I do.
